NEW ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey everyone! Welcome to the relaunch of Goobs! Since Smith decided to bail on me, I've decided to restart the comic I worked on before Slackerz. Most of you probably haven't seen it (I had a very small audience before...a fraction the size of Slackerz' audience).
Who knows, you may even see some of the old Slackerz characters turn up. We're still arguing over who gets custody of the children, but with any luck, ol' Matt or Johnny Turbo will show up from time to time.

April Fools, guys - Slackerz isn't going anywhere.

Damn it all....
So on Sunday morning, I got up early. Ungodly early. Still dark out early. Why, you ask? Well, because I hate myself, apparently. Also, Target was getting in a bunch of Wiis. So I get up about 6:30, and drive to Target (literally a three minute drive), and there's a line. 28 people, so I'm 29. After I'm there about a half hour, someone comes out and tells us that there are only 27 Wiis in stock.
I want one enough to get there an hour or so early, but not badly enough to freaking camp out the night before. That's what some of these people did. That's something that CARTOON Scott might do, but not REAL-LIFE Scott. Real-Life Scott was busy being constructive, working on his comic.

Monday, November 20, 2006

Because I love all you guys, I went ahead and updated the comic for you.
Also, I'm starting to think about purchasing a Wii. I haven't been that excited about video games for a long time (excluding World of Warcraft), but Zelda: Twilight Princess is starting to reawaken the video game geek in me. Yeah yeah, I could just get it for Gamecube, but.... dammit, I want a Wii!

Okay... the character is based on me, but it's not me. So he's got a different last name. Yet, he's still me when I make Sketchbattle comics and whatnot. I don't know. It's like how Joel Hodgson played Joel Robinson on Mystery Science Theater. Bottom line, I just REALLY wanted to do the "McScotterton" gag.

SKETCHBATTLE IS ON.

Monday, September 11, 2006

Hey guys... the Slackerz site was down for awhile, but it's back up now, and everything's cool. Click on the above banner to check it out.
And if there are any Stargate fans reading, or fans of text-based RPGs in general, check out the banner off to the right.

Saturday, August 19, 2006

Hey, got a few points of interest. First, the big news that I'd been hiding: On August 28, the old webcomic Slackerz makes its return, with all new strips. And the new artist for Slackerz is yours truly. We're both very excited about it, and we've got several comics done already. So go to www.theslackerz.com to see the site.
Secondly... this was just awesome... I won the Sci-Fi Prize Pak giveaway at ScifiHeaven.net. I won Battlestar Galactica 2.0 on DVD, along with The Triangle, and the first season of Ghost Hunters. Works well for me, as I hadn't bought the Galactica set yet (since I was waiting for both 2.0 and 2.5 to be released in some kinda shrink-wrapped deal). Thanks guys!
Third... well, this isn't really about me at all, but any fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 should go to the Rifftrax website, where Mike Nelson is doing MST3K-style commentaries of various movies. My friend and I listened to the Fifth Element track, and it was so awesome. But the best part is, the new one is Star Trek 5. Haven't bought it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Fourth, I've learned how to transend my physical body and exist as energy.

Monday, July 31, 2006

I love Zug. I got nuthin else to say besides that. I'm off to get me some food now.

COMIC UPDATE!!!!1111ONE111
It occurred to me a while ago that I haven't actually used Zug in a very very long time. I'll be using him more often.
Oh, and the new project that I'm working on is moving along at a decent pace. It will debut in August (most likely toward the end of August). It's not an uber-secret or anything (in fact, I'm sure if you search the web long enough, you may find something), but I'd rather wait until we have a running website before I put up a link.
Just remember, I'm not writing it, I'm just drawing it. But I love the writer's style of humor, so we should be good.

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Hey everyone. I know it's been awhile since I've produced a new comic. That's what I'm doing now. But I thought you'd like to see a larger version of some of the comic art. This will be a panel in an upcoming strip, but I liked how it turned out so much, I just wanted to share.

Tuesday, June 6, 2006

Nothing new to report. Drawing, etc. I'm so boring. Sigh.

Wednesday, May 31, 2006

Got the new comic up. I would have had it done sooner, but you know... Memorial Day weekend and all.

Monday, May 22, 2006

Hey guys. I would have had this comic up sooner, but my head was about to hit the keyboard last night. So here it is. W00t. Also, I'm working on other projects. I'm not at liberty to discuss them... well, actually I am, I've just always wanted to say that. For now though, I'm just gonna tease you a bit. But I'll tell you one thing... you'll be seeing it around August.

Monday, May 15, 2006

Hey, I'm updating! I'm doing it, see! LOOKIT ME GO!!! wOOOOO!
On another note, I'm sad now, cause apparently Invasion has been cancelled. As has Surface. And of course, anyone who knows me, or knows OF me, or who has ever been in the same room as me knows that I'm a huge sci-fi guy. And I don't take the news of cancellations well.
Oddly enough, I haven't got into Lost. Not because I didn't like it, but because I got into it way too late, and now I can't watch it till I get caught up. (I've only ever seen the first two discs on the DVD set.)
Well, I'm gonna stop typing now. Peace out, y'all. I believe that's what the kids are saying these days.

Sunday, May 7, 2006

Sorry, but I'm just sick of the idea of prequels. Ever since George Lucas's prequel trilogy, everybody thinks this is the next way to go. Call me old fashioned if you like, but I prefer a movie to continue AFTER events of the previous movie(s). I believe those used to be called "se-quels" at one point.
Admittedly, I was always more of a Next Generation/Deep Space Nine fan (since that's what I grew up on), but I still have a great appreciation for the old series/movies. So I don't want anyone to think that I'm a Kirk-hater. ;) That being said (and I'm surprised that I seem to be in the minority on this one), I have no interest in seeing Kirk and Spock portrayed by younger actors.
Also, if Ron Moore decides to go this prequel route with Caprica, won't they have to break out the cheesy-looking Cylon costumes from the original Galactica? ;)

Sunday, April 30, 2006

Hey, not only do I have a new comic up, but on the Other Stuff page, I've got a new piece of fan art, brought to me by Brittany. (In response to this filler strip.) Check it out here. Thanks, Brittany!
And not that I'm begging for handouts or anything, but if anyone else wishes to torture themselves a little bit by drawing any Goobs fan art/strips, I'll add it to the Other Stuff page. And I'll link you. Unless you've got a pro-Nazi site, or a site that supports sex with giraffes or something.

Saturday, April 22, 2006

I was going to wait until Monday to post the new comic, but I just couldn't wait. There will also be a part 5, which will be up soon. And I have a few more ideas banging around the old noggin. Twisted ideas that will drive you all to a form of madness once read.

Saturday, April 15, 2006

Hey, happy tax day everyone. I've returned, but not in any capacity which would result in me making new comics. (Don't worry... those are coming.... I SWEAR.) But I wanted to share this fan art made by Emily (you can view her stuff at deviantArt here). See, this is what happens when I don't update.... I get chained up by a whip wielding dominatrix-type.... mmmm....
I may just have to postpone the updates a bit longer. ;)

Monday, February 27, 2006

Yep, now that's what I'm talkin' about.

Monday, January 16, 2006

Check THAT out... new comic is up.
Not much else going on.... joined a new World of Warcraft guild... trying to write some more parts to this comic series... having weekly Stargate/Galactica nights with my friends. And I've got to go to sleep soon as I type this, so I must stop typing now.

Monday, January 9, 2006

Hello everyone who's still around after my absense. I know I dropped off the face of the earth for awhile. I could go into all the reasons why, but you'd cry yourself to sleep if I ever told you. Anyway, I'm back in the saddle again, and we'll see how long I can stay here. ;)
I'm also attempting a site re-design. It will be similar to this design, with subtle differences. Differences SO subtle, you'll be asking yourself, "Is this the old or the new website?" To which I'll reply, "Shut your word-hole".

Tuesday, September 6, 2005

Hey, I'm back! With a comic.
Oh... I'm sorry to anyone who happened to e-mail me, to whom I never responded. It had been a while since I had checked my e-mail, and then I lost track of who I had responded to, and who I hadn't. But rest assured, if you e-mailed me, I DID read it, and I DID appreciate you taking the time. Especially to those who wrote me about Firefly/Serenity.
And speaking of which.... only 24 days until Serenity comes out in theaters. If you're into sci-fi movies even the slightest bit (and if you read this comic, you probably are), then you should check it out.

EDIT: Also, a while back, I got a fan-made Goobs background, that I never posted. It's in the Other Stuff section, made by "The Almighty Tim". Thanks Tim!

Sunday, July 24, 2005

Hey Goobs...ites. Goobians. Goob-ticians. Think I'm going to stick to the larger page format for awhile. Gosh, I wish I had some other news to report. Other people who have webcomics are always so interesting, and they can come up with something to say at the drop of a hat.

Sunday, July 17, 2005

Thought I'd try the larger page format again (last seen in comic 200). No particular reason. Oh, and we were seriously considering putting a dish up on a tripod in the living room, except our place isn't quite facing the right direction. And... Brad didn't want to have to wear clothes every time he walked into the living room.

Wednesday, July 6, 2005

Well, managed to squeeze out another update. Woo.
I know it's a bit late to be doing a comic about the Serenity screening, cause it was quite a while ago. The comic pretty much says it all. It was awesome. Freaking awesome. You'll laugh, you'll cry. Go see this movie when it comes out. Even if you're not a Firefly fan, Serenity is still completely accessible to newcomers.
Oh, just for fun... With all this talk about Serenity and Firefly, if I've managed to actually turn someone on to the show, drop me a line and let me know. I'd love to know if I actually had any influence on anybody... if I've actually managed to turn anyone into a Browncoat. Did I? Eh, probably not.

In any case, check out Firefly. Especially when it starts airing on the Sci-fi Channel on July 22 (if you don't wanna shell out the cash for the DVDs). And no, no one paid me to endorse it. :)

Thursday, June 16, 2005

Hey guys, I'm back... but strangely enough, Goobs is not. Yeah, I've been kicking around this comic idea for some time, and decided to go ahead with it. It's based off of the whole "Sci-fi moments you never see" series I did (a series of two comics). I guess we'll see how this plays out.
On another note... I mananged to get a ticket to one of the advanced screenings for Serenity. The screening is on June 23, next week. And I gotta tell you... I'm excited. I haven't looked forward to a movie this much since Star Trek: Generations (which was incidently another instance of a TV show I LOVED being made into a movie), and that was over ten years ago. I'll be sure to post my opinions of the movie after I've seen it.... WITHOUT SPOILERS. So don't worry, I won't give nuthin' away.

Thursday, May 12, 2005

Sorry about having no update on Monday. I've been having difficulty logging in to update the last couple days, since my buddy switched me over to another server or some such. Just didn't want you folks thinkin' I was getting lazy or anything.
I know the third (or sixth, or whatever) Star Wars movie is on the horizon, but currently I'm even MORE excited about Serenity. This is MY Star Wars. For the longest time, the two big movies I was looking forward to were Serenity and Hitchhiker's Guide... and now the latter has come and gone. And I've got five freaking months to wait 'till the former. Blast!

Thursday, May 5, 2005

Check me out... new comic's up!

Monday, May 2, 2005

Went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Friday. Now, many die-hard fans of the series are saying that the movie sucks. Well, let me tell you, I'm a huge fan of the books/radio series/TV series, and I LOVED it. Yes, there were differences. Yes, some funny jokes/narratives from the book didn't make it into the movie. But there were still plenty of parts that WERE in the movie, as well as some new parts. And sure, I wept for the loss of some of my favorite jokes as well. But on the whole, it was cool. Quite cool.

Monday, April 18, 2005

Welcome..... to part 3 of the comic series. There will be a part 4 as well. Yeah, I know that I said it would only be 3 parts. So I'm a big fat liar.

Monday, April 4, 2005

Finally got a new comic up. Wheeee!

Monday, March 21, 2005

What the... where did this comic come from? I don't remember drawing it. I swear... I was too busy being a lazy bastard to draw a comic. Don't know where this came from. But if I DID draw it, I'd tell you that it's part of a multi-part comic story. "Multi" meaning "three", most likely.

Monday, February 28, 2005

Thought I'd show ya a drawing I'd been working on for awhile.

Thursday, February 17, 2005

Those of you that have read some of the early comics may recognize Eileen. Thought I'd try and bring her back. Maybe I can get a few laughs with a new (old) character. I dunno.
And for anyone interested, the new Hitchhiker's Guide trailer is out. Check it out here.

Thursday, February 3, 2005

Hey guys... I AM working on the comic, I swear. I've got one planned, but it required a bit of drawing (it being a comic strip and all). I could have made it a single-panel comic, but I think it will work even better as a 3-panel strip. In the meantime though, I thought you might like to see some sketches I've been working on, in an attempt to create a robot character (not for Goobs). Sadly, everything I come up with looks like a cross between R2-D2 and those robots on one wheel from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons (the very first few episodes).

Monday, January 31, 2005

New comic.... and nothing else interesting to talk about. My life is so boring. I will say though that I particularly enjoyed doing the lighting and shading on this comic.

It's true, my new computer glows, and it's hypnotizing. In fact, that's what I was doing during my hiatus. Just staring at the blue glow of my computer. For three weeks straight.

Monday, January 24, 2005

Yeah, so what if I've got a Christmas comic at the end of January? :)
Seriously, though, I'm sorry about the lack of comic for such a long time. My heart just wasn't in it for a while. If I were doing this for a living, I'd have more time to do it, and all would be good. But I'm back, and I'm gonna try and get myself ahead of schedule.
